Biography
Edmonton, Alberta's Hey Romeo has earned their reputation as one of the most dedicated touring bands in Canada. With more then 700 shows under their belts, the trio, made up of vocalist Stacie Roper, keyboard player Rob Shapiro and guitar player Darren Gusnowsky, has opened for everyone from Sugarland to The Trews.
With the release of their debut self-titled album, Hey Romeo is stirring things up at country radio. Their current single from the album, "Sorry That You're Leavin'" has generated strong airplay and positive feedback from radio programmers across Canada. The band, who released their first single, "Wrap These Around You," under the name Udder Maddness in July 2005, bring an infectious sense of fun to their songs.
The three members of Hey Romeo are all seasoned veterans from Edmonton’s music community and met while performing as part of other projects. Their collective chemistry was evident as soon as they began rehearsing together in 2001 and their live shows have drawn comparisons to Fleetwood Mac, Sarah Evans and Alison Krauss.
Since forming, the band have built and impressive following and appeared at prestigious events such as The Calgary Exhibition and Stampede, The Big Valley Jamboree, The Canadian Finals Rodeo, Edmonton Klondike Days, The Canadian Briar Curling Championships and several Alberta Pro Events. They have opened for numerous nationally and internationally known artists, including Emerson Drive, Chely Wright, The Corb Lund Band and The Road Hammers.
Living up to their reputation, Hey Romeo is already out on the road in support of the album with tour dates booked throughout the summer and fall.
